NOLA Life – April 2026 Edition

Today, as I wandered through the French Quarter, I realized that I really do like living here. Today was (is) the first day of the French Quarter Festival (FQF), which is a four-day event featuring – mostly – music, and all the many other things that New Orleans has to offer.

This morning started with the daily “feeding of the pooches”, followed by our shortened walk around the block. Lately, due to the roadwork, and a silly little back issue, longer walks have not been on the agenda. I don’t think either dog really cares, but it has been a lot easier for Cabby. As an mellowing older lady (she is 16 years old), our walks have become more like strolls, or stop-and-gos along the route. We try to add different events to our calendars, and this morning, up popped a reminder about the FQF. So off I went up a couple of blocks to St. Ann and Bourbon, and the parade was well underway. The city just seems to come alive when a brass band or drum line is wandering through the streets.

Jackson Square was the destination, and this is where the picture above was taken. I posted some additional images on my Instagram and Facebook, so be sure to check those out.
