I’ve been watching the Australian election results and commentary for the last 2.5 hours, and at this stage it looks like the ALP will be returning to governement after 11 years. The most interesting part of the election so far is that the current PM (John Howard) is looking like he will not be reelected.

Australian Election
Today (in Australia) the Australian Federal Election is occurring. At the time of writing this entry, the polls are open for about another 45 minutes. I’ve not paid a great deal of attention to Australian politics since leaving her shores a few years back, and I’m saddened to say that of all years, this was… Continue reading
Thanksgiving
One of the most frequently asked questions I get at this time of year is (or has been), “how does Australia celebrate Thanksgiving?” The simple answer is that we don’t. As Wikipedia explains, Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday to give thanks for the things that one has at the conclusion… Continue reading
More Naked Calendars … well almost
Will it never end? Hopefully not 🙂 The latest “Men of …” style calendar is the “Men of Mortuaries” which features funeral directors and morticians from across the U.S. So far my favorites are Mr. November, Mr. July, and Mr. March (a good month).
Run naked
Back on October 6, I along with some friends, participated in my first naked run: the Bluebonnet Bare As You Dare 5K. It was a load of fun, and we all had a great time. The weather was ideal – a little cloudy, but warm – and the atmosphere was extremely friendly (but not in… Continue reading

I’m sitting here in the car park pilfering someone’s wireless internet connection looking at the image you can see here in this post. It’s a beautiful day in Austin. Did I… Continue reading
Being Natural
I’ve learned a very interesting thing about people recently, they love the taboo issues. I am not really surprised by this revelation, nor shocked by my realization of this well known fact. I think what fascinates me more is the trigger that made me more aware of this little piece of reality. Let’s go back… Continue reading
Project Lanai (Part Deux)
Thanks to my good friend Layton, the lanai preparation has developed to an almost final stage. I have two things to show for the work that Layton and I did: (1) a semi-circle dirt area in my back yard; and (2) peeling skin. It seems that Layton doesn’t burn when standing around in the sun,… Continue reading
