Facebook Rekindles Family Dynamics Once Forgotten

Posted on February 16, 2009March 3, 2019 by James

I’ve not spent a lot of time going through my family history on this blog, as in the most part it is rather boring, and not overly eventful. If I think hard enough, I’m sure there are plenty of anecdotes that I could recall about the oddities of my family (we all have some), but… Continue reading

Sam the Koala

Posted on February 14, 2009February 14, 2009 by James

One of those stories that you are happy to see amid the misery that has been caused by the devastating bushfires in Victoria. “Sam” is a koala that was found after having survived the fires, and was treated to some much needed water by a CFA volunteer. (Watch the video.) Note, the picture was taken… Continue reading

Playing for Change: One Love

Posted on February 13, 2009June 19, 2024 by James

Today, I finally caught up watching a video that Chris had sent me of Jimmy Buffett visiting Google recently (as part of their @Google speaker series). The video is worth watching if you want a brief glimpse inside the life of Jimmy. During the talk, Jimmy would reference something and would follow it by suggesting… Continue reading

Aussie Devastation 2009

Posted on February 10, 2009April 30, 2021 by James

One of my main focal points over the last few days has been the devastation that has been occurring in my home state of Victoria (Australia) with the (what is now) worst bushfires in the country’s history. Since the fires first claimed their early victims, I have been monitoring the ABC news website for updates… Continue reading

Since taking ownership of a netbook and have a little more portability in my life now, I try to catch up with blog postings and email just before I doze off each night. I know that many people (scientists included) suggest that it is not good to watch television or look at a computer screen… Continue reading

Chilly Days

Posted on January 28, 2009 by James

The last couple of days have been quite chilly here in Frisco. This morning when we woke up, the temperature was about 21F (-6C), which was probably a little chillier than was forecast. It is now about 1:30 PM and there is still ice on the ground, but it is slowly melting away as the… Continue reading

No decaf @ SBUX?

Posted on January 28, 2009 by James

Thankfully this latest decision by Starbucks to stop brewing decaf coffee after 12PM doesn’t affect me. I am amazed that the savings that are being projected over the next 9 months is $400M (that’s million)!

Change has come!

Posted on January 20, 2009October 1, 2016 by James

America’s President Not sure how quickly the turnover will be on the government websites, but at 12 PM (EST), the White House website should be updated to reflect the new president. You can always check out President Obama’s website leading up to the inauguration for updates, or the Presidential Inauguration Committee’s website.
