  • Catch Me If You Can

Saw Catch Me If You Can today. It's the new Tom Hanks / Leo DiCapprio film. Have to say that I thought it was a little slow and repetative, though I was still feeling ill, so this may have had something to do with it. It was enjoyable, don't get me wrong – but it seemed to focus on the same storyline repeated 2-3 times. Frankly, I thought the most interesting part of the film was the ending “bits of information” which tells us what “Frank” is up to now, and what he has done since that film ended.

Enjoyed a coffee on the way home… tried the new Toffee Latte from Starbucks. I think I will stick to my normal coffee selection. It was nice to have a coffee 🙂

  • Talking Stomachs

Good name for a group, right?

Today I have felt like death. I ate something last night and it did not agree with me at all. Still I got up to do a student government retreat / planning day, which was poorly attended. I shouldn't have expected anything different, but I had hope. The fact that I was feeling bad, and the attendance was poor, put me in a worse mood. I felt embarrased because we had the Vice President of Student Development and the President of the College come to our sessions. So much for student government *sigh*

Anyway, we finished the session after lunch, as I couldn't continue. I progressively felt worse as the day went on, so I left early and fell into bed when I got home. Slept till just after 6:30 PM, and didn't really feel any better. The smell of food does not agree with me, so I'm taking a very low profile in the house. Chris made me tea and was just so sweet when he got home. I think I'm just getting crankier in my older age, and being sick intensifies that feeling.

The dogs must know I'm not well, as they are keeping a close eye on me, but not being as energetic as they normally are. I really love those pooches!

  • 2003 Far From Heaven

Well today was just a busy, busy day! Pooches to the vet and registered, car lubed and inspected, college paid for (Spring Semester), and still I found time to get my hair chopped and take in a movie. A very productive day!

Chris and I, joined our friends Brian and Dan, to watch “Far From Heaven” the Dennis Quaid / Juliane Moore movie set in the 1950's. It was a magical film. The cinematography was awesome, with the colors of Fall in the NE captured beautifully. The story was well written, and the way Juliane Moore's character portrays herself as the “in control and managing every aspect of life mother” is superb (quite different to her role in Boogie Nights).

I loved the film, and will be seeking this one out on DVD when it's time.

  • The Journey Begins…

Well my new year resolutions are kicking in.

    1. Loose Weight / Tone: Need to drop about 25 pounds, would like to drop 30. Body fat is too high, would like to see that down to about 12-14%, and then we'll work on getting it lower.

    2. More Social: Decided that I need to be better at keeping in touch with people, and spend quality time with my friends.

    3. Finish College Degree.

Will keep track of these on here through 2003.

  • Happy New Years

Our new year's eve event was a lot of fun. We had about 30 of our friends drop by through the night, and celebrate the coming of a new year with us. It's nights like this that remind me how lucky we are for all our wonderful friends. The evening was without major incident, and we finally climbed into bed around 3am.

The new year is going to be all about toning, tanning and tarting 🙂 Actually Chris and I have decided that we are going to “get healthy” and work at eating well for the majority of the week, and working out more. This can only be a good thing for the dogs.

  • Harry Potter in the Chamber

Saw Harry Potter (Chamber of Secrets) tonight. It was a fun movie, but not as enjoyable as the first. This one deals with spiders a little more than I would like … I'll be looking over my shoulder more over the next few days. Nice ending … as usual.

Can't believe how busy the theatre was at 9:45 PM.

  • man help linux

Damn this Linux contraption. I’ve been trying to sort out my server for the last two days and finally I had to get an expert in to help me out (well, a good friend of mine). Hopefully this will be sorted out soon…

Chris is still away in Houston.

  • Rainy days and dogs

The rain has hit today, and I have a house full of dogs. I think this is going to take it's toll on me sometime. Thankfully the weekend is here so we can keep them occupied during the next couple of days. We are sitting a friend's dog while they are travelling overseas, and it's been non-stop since I got him home. Colby just wants to play and play with the visitor, but Bosley tends to sulk. I think he thinks we have another dog, which means less affection for him. We'll work on that.

Had dinner last night with some new neighborhood friends and they are lot of fun. Both are very cute too, which always helps (if you ask me). We are having a dinner / movie night tomorrow night, and one of them is coming along. I'm looking forward to getting some friends in the house and just relaxing. Wish I were a little leaner and taut – *sigh*

  • Popping My Blogging Cherry

I've decided to take the plunge and do an online journal. It seems like this will be a good way for me to “write stuff down” and help me work through the issues that dwell on my mind. It's also a good way for me to remember what I got up to that day, week, or month.

This evening I spent listening to our HOA Board drone about how busy they have been, without actually doing anything. It seems they think if you put a group of slides together in powerpoint, then it shows you've been busy. Not sure which school taught them that, but it was so transparent.
