Protecting What?

Posted on July 23, 2004March 3, 2019 by James

Well today the House voted to pass the Marriage Protection Act (HB3313). At first prior to the quorum call it lost, but then some smart Republican “noted” the quorum, and a roll call (electronic) vote was called.  Naturally it passed, and now it journies across to the Senate for consideration.  One of the opponents of… Continue reading

Chatting with a friend today about what is happening around the country, and especially in DC.  He passed on a blog (yep, another one) on the inside news in DC.  It's called Wonkette, and it's politica in nature (I know, how odd).

FMA Debates

Posted on July 14, 2004March 3, 2019 by James

Interesting debate on CSPAN-2 right now on the Federal Marriage Amendment.  They are currently finalizing comments prior to voting on cloture to debate teh amendment.  Senator Hatch could barely utter the word “gays” when he was saying that they deserve to live they way they want, but not have the benefit of marriage.

Top Ten List – Conservative Idiots

Posted on July 12, 2004March 3, 2019 by James

Catching up on some reading, and had a friend pass this link to the Democratic Underground's Top Ten Conservative Idiots to me.  The letter from Governor Bush to Ken Lay is a classic.

The Dreamers

Posted on July 11, 2004March 3, 2019 by James

Chris and I attended the Alliance Française du Nord du Texas Bastille Day Dinner tonight.  Great food, and a silent auction to boot.  Chris bid on a DVD of a movie called “The Dreamers” and he won, so we'll get to experience this interesting movie next week sometime.

Today I learnt that a friend of mine has been diagnosed with Leukemia.  Not sure of the details, but the name is enough to send shivers down the spine.  I remember growing up in the hospitals visiting my sister as she was going through all her chemotherapy and various treatmets.. she was often in the… Continue reading

Independence from?

Posted on July 5, 2004March 3, 2019 by James

Today I participated in the Frisco Freedom Fest (the local city's Independence Day festivity), and after a semi-enjoyable day (busy and hot), I have to say that I become quite despondent during the fireworks finale.  I realized as I was watching the “oohhs” and the “aaahhhs” that we were amongst people celebrating their indepedence in… Continue reading

That's Theatre with an "RE"

Posted on July 2, 2004March 3, 2019 by James

Back is still causing me a problem but it is getting better.  I bought season tickets to the Quad C Theatre today.  Looking forward to being exposed to some theatre-culture in the next few months 🙂
