So Mardi Gras is over for 2025, and here are some thoughts on “surviving” the season. First, living in the Quarter was not what I expected during the Mardi Gras season. It was much more quiet than I may have thought it would be, and the crazy was not as crazy as I feared. I think this is based on the location of where we are, and it being “just far enough out” of the center of it all.
Next, the Quarter does have a LOT more people and this was most noticeable the weekend before and on Mardi Gras day, and if you are looking for big crowds you can find them.

Prices do seem to change a little in the Quarter during Mardi Gras, at least it seems that way. The costs for drinks, and products in stores, appeared to be a little cheaper in the few days following Mardi Gras. Coincidence? Perhaps.
Since moving here, we have realized that people will come to visit you in NOLA, especially during Mardi Gras. We had our friends Travis and Brad here over the past weekend, Chris has his cousins, Jeff and Laurie visiting this weekend, and in two weekends, his brother and niece, Jason and Izzy, will be in town (to celebrate Chris’s birthday).
Overall, I have enjoyed the part of the season we experienced, and honestly looking forward to future Mardi Gras adventures in NOLA.
