“Let’s just walk around, and see things,” might sound simple enough to most, but when in Washington D.C. this can be a dangerous thing. So we did walk … and walk … and walk. My Fitbit tells me that we covered 14.47 miles this day.
But sites we did see. Chris had chosen a great hotel on Embassy Row (right across the road from the Australian Embassy), which was about 6 blocks from the White House, so that was our first stop. We then wandered through the parks and memorials and stopped by (see the gallery of pictures below):
- Washington Memorial
- World War II Memorial
- Lincoln Memorial
- Vietnam Memorial
- MLK Memorial
- FDR Memorial
- Jefferson Memorial
- Bureau of Engraving (for the money shot)
By this time we were somewhat exhausted, so after a short recuperation period, we headed off to dinner at Dupont Italian Kitchen, which has been a place that Chris and I have eaten at each time we’ve been to D.C. We saw drag queens which generated an interesting conversation at the dinner table.
Later that night, we drove to snap some night photos at the Lincoln Memorial, US Congress and Washington Memorial. Then we crashed.
