First Hurricane Rita has formed as a very well organized Category 5 storm, due to make land fall on the Texas Gulf coast (between Galveston and Corpus Christi). CNN reports this storm as the third most intense storm in history.

And a Jet Blue airplane is currently circling Long Beach, California to burn off fuel so that it can make an emergency landing due to a failure of the front landing gear.
