Persecuting Catholic Leaders

I was just reading Ed's blog entry about “Straight Priests.” I enjoyed the way he started the thread, as I have – at times – wondered how we (people) manage to acquire certain words and then redefine them.

The focus of Ed's article is the decision of the new Pope to conduct a “witch hunt” for gays in the catholic organization. What is worrying about this kind of activity – which I am sure has already been said – is that with the background of this new Pope, what is the distinction between his actions and those of the youth organization he used to belong to? It's unfortunate that the Pope is not reading Ed's blog to see how hypocritical the church is being on this particular issue.
