H2G2

Just finished watching Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I read the book(s) when I was just a wee lad growing up, and found them to be thought provoking, if not a little silly – I guess that is why I liked them. Of course we were discussing (briefly) the books of the “series” and for some odd reason, I am unable to recall if I read all of his (Adams) books. A quick search found me his listing of books he has written (related to H2G2, short for Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy). I do remember reading the first three.

Anyway, the movie was full of direct lifts from the book (which I thought good), and you just had to love Marvin (not that he would believe you did anyway). The monologue of the sperm whale was amusing, and the scene where a “worker” is painting Uluru actually gives a logical reason to how the hell that large, red rock ended up where it did. Room for a sequel? I think so.

Indeed, the weekend has only just begun, and the galaxy is a very strange and startling place.
