First Election Upset

Posted on October 10, 2004March 3, 2019 by James

Well it's official.  John Howard's conservative government has been elected to their fourth term in Australia, and the sad thing is that for the first time in over 30 years, it appears that his government will have control of both the House and the Senate.  What gives?

As many of you may have heard me whinge, my very own flesh and blood (ie. my mother) was going to vote for Howard because he seemed to care about Australia's safety.  It's just mind boggling, however I guess it is her right to vote any way she feels … though I wish I was there to have counter-acted at least her vote.  Alas, I have lost my voting rights entirely because of my studies over here in the US.  It's just frustrating at times.
