Friendster

Sunday, November 30th, 2003 | Author: James

A friend mentioned Friendster to me the other week. I remember something similar being developed called sixdegrees.com (which I remember “wining” a t-shirt on many, many years ago), but that is now a travel/dating site.

Anyway, I've been looking more at the site, and filling in more details. It's interesting to see how people are getting linked and the personal networks are developed. If you are on there and reading my LJ, then shoot me an email, so I can add you :-)

OutQ What?

Sunday, November 30th, 2003 | Author: James

Well we were travelling to East Texas, and listening to Chris's new Sirius radio, mainly the OutQ stream. Funny people Derek and Romaine, and the topics are enlightening, as well as amusing. Got back and found that I can be listening to OutQ on the web. It's a great line up, if not a little repetitive on the weekend (they don't do live shows on the weekend).

Friday evening

Saturday, November 08th, 2003 | Author: James

Well it's Friday evening, and I've just finished coffee and dinner (normal Friday evening antics). We had a good group tonight at coffee … more than I anticipated given the dampness we've been experiencing today.

Looks like plans to do Six Flags are now off, which is good, as I didn't want to spend time wandering around a theme park in the rain. So a casual day I'm thinking, with a probable game afternoon/evening.

I'm tired now … I think the cool weather, warm house combination is affecting me.

Is there a shredder in the house?

So much paper, and this is just for an essay on a play *sigh* After this, just one more paper to do - a research paper, and then it's over. Looking forward to getting this class over as it's part of the basics, so it's one less to worry about before graduating and moving on.

I have this meeting tonight with the Creek Group from our HOA. I'm looking forward to it more than I was yesterday, especially after chatting with one of my neighbors last night. It seems one of our other neighbors is attempting to run a coup on the work of this group (which they have been working on for close to six months). It turns out they don't have a lot of support, which is good, and the support they did have was because of the untruths that had been spread about the group, or members of the group. Anyway, it should be interesting.

Work continues on the SGA restructure … it seems to be taking a while. I don't think people are committed to it as much as I am … which is an indication that maybe it's not the right thing. Of course, everyone else is saying it is the way to go, but perhaps no-one wants to do anything to make it a reality … time will tell.

Slept rather well last night … though I don't like Tuesday or Thursday mornings as I have to get to class *sigh*

Mitigation Stuff

Tuesday, November 04th, 2003 | Author: James

Finally I've gotten the draft report out to the creek group and board for this meeting on Thursday. Frustration levels are running a little higher about this one, as all of a sudden people are interested — go figure. Add to that the update the website didn't happen as it was down… which sort of annoyed me more than I could imagine … but I”m over that now.

On a better note, I got a 98 in my History Exam!!!!!!!! (Overuse of Exclamation Points, I know.) I'm excited as my last exam was a C, so this is a tremendous jump for me, and with my last set of papers getting A's, this could be my third A for the semester. Now I will have to drop that damn algebra class *sigh*

Busy night planned … student leaders meeting this afternoon (we're giving away pizza, so we should have a reasonable attendance), and then a couple of board meetings (one very short one, and then one not so short one).

I should be working on my presentation on the Aeneid, but hey … it's Tuesday … and it's not due until Wednesday :-)
