Dog Day Afternoon

Took the dogs to the park today. Chris was still in Shreveport, so figured they needed to get out and run around some. I didn't sleep well last night, so I'm really dragging today. Perhaps I needed to get some more coffee or something into me.

Chatted today with Jonas, a new guy on the FriscoPride list. It was a nice chat. Found out all about him, and he seems a very sweet guy. I'm glad the list is growing, just need to keep the focus on Frisco. Coffee chats are going well on Friday Nights, and seem to have a good turnout.

What a gap in my entries! I guess this is what happens when you get a new computer and forget to load the download (or upload) tool for livejournal 😉

This past weekend Chris and I, joined some friends (six others) for a weekend on Lake Buchanan down towards Austin. Joining us were seven dogs – so it was a full cabin! It was very relaxing and a lot of fun. The 'tone' of the group was very different to the last time we went on a trip like this. It seemed to be more serious. Not sure why, just was that way.

Our dogs were SO tired, it was funny to watch.

I've been busy with things of late, so trying to keep my days organized so I can keep afloat. The Student Leadership stuff is really annoying me. The leaders of the group seem to think that what they have given us during the last seven months is something to work with, and frankly this isn't the case. Just a lot of notes, a lot of speakers and very little in the way of team building and team dynamics. This is reflected in the way that many groups are dealing with their presentations they are meant to make this week.

Port Douglas 1996

From left to right: John (PA), Jeff (CA), James & Daniel

During our visit to the north, we meet John & Jeff on the Ocean Spirit Reef Trip. The trip was organised for the Men On Vacation group, and if John or Jeff had not seen “all the boys” boarding that boat, they would have spent their trip with the blue-rinse brigade! They jumped shipped and landed on our boat!   We became friends, and hung out together while in Port Douglas / Cairns. The newspaper we are holding is a reference to the amount of rain that we were experiencing at the time. John is from Philadelphia, and is a travel consultant. He has fabulous taste in swimwear (names, names darling)!! Jeff is from Los Angeles (right in the middle of BoyzTown) and is an Attorney.

Mardi Gras 1996

During Mardi Gras, we meet a couple from San Francisco – Bill and Todd. I had been communicating with them leading up to their trip to Australia, and while they were heading to our home town (Melbourne) after Mardi Gras, we weren’t going to be there, so we meet up in Sydney.
