Boy meets Boy

July 31st, 2003 § 0 comments § permalink

Watched the Boy meets Boy show on Bravo. Fun show… though it drags somewhat in places … all for the suspense I guess. There are some very attractive men on the show, and the “star” did pick at least one of them to leave that I would have. One I didn't have an opinion on, but the other guy (the only black guy) I thought could have been fun to have on the show a little bit longer.

Some people I've chatted to think it's kind of stupid, but then I point out shows like Who Wants to Marry A Millionaire and the like, and we agree that it's better to have cute men to look at, rather than stupid looking women.

OMG!

Oh my god! I've just finished reading Density of Souls, and I'm just flabbergasted. What an incredible book! I never expected the ending, and for those of you who have not yet read it … I won't spoil it. What a tremendous talent Christopher Rice has. I'm now eagerly going to search out his second book, and hope that it's as good as his first.

Amazing.

Density of Souls

Started reading Density of Souls by Christopher Rice last night. Already half way through the book.

Met a guy online today whose nickname was DensityOfSouls, so I chatted with him briefly. He is in Sydney, Australia, and has just re-read the book. He loves it, and wants me to email him when I've finished so we can chat about it.

I'm ordering in Christopher's next book, The Snow Garden, from the library, so hopefully when I finish this, I 'll have the next one waiting.

Chris is in Houston this week, attending Rig School. He's off to Galveston tomorrow as part of a field trip, so I suggested he look at the place that he thinks we should go for our vacation where we can take the dogs.

VH1 has a series called “I Love the '80's” running at the moment. It is too funny, and I'm amazed at how much I remember about the things they are talking about. Kind of scary.

Mrs Dalloway?

Well … I've just watched The Hours again on DVD and once again find myself wondering how Chicago beat this movie in the awards. Justice was lacking.

Yesterday, we went to Tim & Mike's Summer Blast party, and had a very enjoyable time. It's always nice to catch up with old friends, and make new ones. Some of the photo's Brian took are just too funny. When he mentioned blackmail, I didn't think he meant it :-) Jonas came to the party and had a good time (I think). He lacks self-confidence at times, and I think he finds it difficult to understand that people find him attractive … I keep telling him it's highly possible, and most likely and he shouldn't be shocked by this. He makes me laugh sometimes with his thinking on some things.

After the party, Chris decided to go out with Paul to the clubs, and me being such a fan of smoky bars decided to stay in. Jonas was over, so we talked a little about the day and the party. I actually enjoyed my evening with him so much, it was a perfect way to end the day.

Today was a good relaxing day. I worked with Brian at getting a mail server up and running, and it is. And the website is now resolving correctly, so two good achievements for the day.

Hours and hours…

Just saw The Hours with Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore & Meryl Streep – WOW !!!! It's a film that deserves an academy or six! Brilliantly acted, and with such an amazing story all woven together so beautifully. It's so hard to recognize Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woolf, but there were moments of text that I thought I was listening to her in The Others.

Tommorrow we have a creek cleanup, so I'm going to head to bed with the thoughts of The Hours wandering through my mind.

Catch Me If You Can

Saw Catch Me If You Can today. It's the new Tom Hanks / Leo DiCapprio film. Have to say that I thought it was a little slow and repetative, though I was still feeling ill, so this may have had something to do with it. It was enjoyable, don't get me wrong – but it seemed to focus on the same storyline repeated 2-3 times. Frankly, I thought the most interesting part of the film was the ending “bits of information” which tells us what “Frank” is up to now, and what he has done since that film ended.

Enjoyed a coffee on the way home… tried the new Toffee Latte from Starbucks. I think I will stick to my normal coffee selection. It was nice to have a coffee :-)

2003 Far From Heaven

Well today was just a busy, busy day! Pooches to the vet and registered, car lubed and inspected, college paid for (Spring Semester), and still I found time to get my hair chopped and take in a movie. A very productive day!

Chris and I, joined our friends Brian and Dan, to watch “Far From Heaven” the Dennis Quaid / Juliane Moore movie set in the 1950's. It was a magical film. The cinematography was awesome, with the colors of Fall in the NE captured beautifully. The story was well written, and the way Juliane Moore's character portrays herself as the “in control and managing every aspect of life mother” is superb (quite different to her role in Boogie Nights).

I loved the film, and will be seeking this one out on DVD when it's time.

Harry Potter in the Chamber

Saw Harry Potter (Chamber of Secrets) tonight. It was a fun movie, but not as enjoyable as the first. This one deals with spiders a little more than I would like … I'll be looking over my shoulder more over the next few days. Nice ending … as usual.

Can't believe how busy the theatre was at 9:45 PM.

Where Am I?
