Last month, I blogged about how the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Deleting Online Predators Act. It appears that online opposition to this has been growing, and a newish site has been created to combat this legislation.

The Save Your Space site aims to “show the public, the media and the U.S. government the importance and amazing power of social networking, blogging and chat room sites.”

They have started an online petition, and want to get 1 million signatures before September 4, 2006. So far, they have 3,261 signatures, so they have a long way to go. Add yours if you care enough.

Toga To Go

August 30th, 2006 § 1 comment § permalink

Saturday night, our intrepid group headed north-west to Denton to attend a toga party hosted by Layton and his roommates. We were a little unsure of what to expect, given that this was a college-party and in Denton, but those fears soon subsided once we had arrived. Naturally, we all looked fabulous!

Photos will be posted once we find our camera (actually, we know where it is … we just have to get it).

Eeeks … blog temporarily gauche

I seemed to have made a change to my regular template that upset the viewable features of my blog, so I’ve found something disturbing to temporarily keep people occupied until I re-do my template file. Enjoy!

Priscilla Movie PosterFor some of you that know me, you may recall that one of my favorite movies to force straight boys to watch is Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Well it appears that it is becoming a stage musical, with the opening scheduled for Sydney later this year.  Thanks to ModFab for the heads up.

Found this site today called NewsTrove which aims to group searches of news sites, blogs, etc based on your preference (conservative, liberal, catholic, etc).

From the site: “NewsTrove provides a news search service that employs qualitative ranking and filtration of news content. NewsTrove indexes internet news content, such as news articles, personal weblog journals known as blogs, audio and video content known as podcasts, newsfeeds, and websites.”

Google Calendar

Last Thursday, Google released their Calendar tool.

http://www.google.com/calendar/render

I’ve checked it out, and it seems to have a bunch of features that I’ve muttered to myself from time to time would be nice to have with an online calendar. Still trying to figure out the public calendar tool, but it has two options for that: iCal or XML.

I imported all my data from Outlook into the calendar, and that seemed to be rather seemless. I guess I’ll have to play around with it a little more to see how it works. What is particularly cool, is the option to have your daily agenda (planner) emailed to you each morning … well, may not that cool :-)
