the Movie

July 28th, 2007

Well we are now safely home and time to reflect on The Simpsons Movie … well that is done!

Now I shall preface my comments by stating that I am not as much a fan of The Simpsons as others that I know, and I do not have the innate ability to rattle off lines from the series throughout the years. Most of the time, it’s funny, some of the time I laugh. This pretty much describes my reaction to the movie.

I am sure there were funnier parts of the movie, however there were moments when applause, hootin’ and hollerin’ overwhelmed my ability to hear, so I shall have to watch it again (most likely when it is released on DVD). I’m willing to wait.

We sat in the theatre waiting for the “slushy” moment, alas didn’t appear (I think Ian dreamt about it, so it wasn’t meant to be there).

Following the movie most of the group ventured over to the Cheesecake Factory for a martini or other drink. Good discussion — not about the movie — and an enjoyable evening overall.

front of the queue (or line)

July 27th, 2007

We are off to see The Simpsons Movie tonight, and after enjoying a salad at CPK, we got to the cinema and we got our place in line – at the front.

First time ever :)

Of course this meant we got to pick the best seats, well Corey did :) . The theatre is a little rowdy, but I’m hopeful that the movie will shut them up.

Being Social, Rants & Raves

Maybe I'm Sensitive

July 15th, 2003

Well it's been an odd few days. The weekend was kind of odd for me. I spent most of my time at home working on things that really didn't matter. Chris was at work most of Saturday, and I just wasn't feeling 100%.

Friday night we went to coffee, and had quite a few new members sipping the java. Dinner followed, and then drinks at the Cheesecake Factory. I was so tired that I nearly fell asleep whilst driving home.

Saturday was a ho-hum kind of day, which ended in a ho-hum kind of way. Chris had agreed to go to a function for the Bastille Day celebrations. It was organized, in part, by his boss. It was interesting, and enjoyable, but with my heart not being in the right mood for this, we left a little early, and I decided that sleep was a good option.

Sunday, we had brunch plans with one of the people from CCGLA, and spent some time just discussing various options for moving the group forward. I guess, the weather is hitting me hard, as I came home and went to bed. Slept on and off for about 3 hours. Finally did something energetic and went inline skating. Only did about four miles but it was enough to work up a bit of a sweat. Had some friends over for dinner, and it was nice to see them all, and especially Jonas. I've not seen a great deal of him this past week. With his scheduled and ours, it's just been hectic.

Tonight we had dinner with some friends, Bobby and Ian, over at their place. As usual Ian cooks up a fabulous meal, and he makes it all seem so easy. Sarah Molton would be proud.

I'm sitting here with both of my dogs at my feet. I love these pooches so much!

The Journey Begins…

January 2nd, 2003

Well my new year resolutions are kicking in.

1. Loose Weight / Tone: Need to drop about 25 pounds, would like to drop 30. Body fat is too high, would like to see that down to about 12-14%, and then we'll work on getting it lower.

2. More Social: Decided that I need to be better at keeping in touch with people, and spend quality time with my friends.

3. Finish College Degree.

Will keep track of these on here through 2003.

Happy New Years

January 1st, 2003

Our new year's eve event was a lot of fun. We had about 30 of our friends drop by through the night, and celebrate the coming of a new year with us. It's nights like this that remind me how lucky we are for all our wonderful friends. The evening was without major incident, and we finally climbed into bed around 3am.

The new year is going to be all about toning, tanning and tarting :-) Actually Chris and I have decided that we are going to “get healthy” and work at eating well for the majority of the week, and working out more. This can only be a good thing for the dogs.

Rainy days and dogs

October 18th, 2002

The rain has hit today, and I have a house full of dogs. I think this is going to take it's toll on me sometime. Thankfully the weekend is here so we can keep them occupied during the next couple of days. We are sitting a friend's dog while they are travelling overseas, and it's been non-stop since I got him home. Colby just wants to play and play with the visitor, but Bosley tends to sulk. I think he thinks we have another dog, which means less affection for him. We'll work on that.

Had dinner last night with some new neighborhood friends and they are lot of fun. Both are very cute too, which always helps (if you ask me). We are having a dinner / movie night tomorrow night, and one of them is coming along. I'm looking forward to getting some friends in the house and just relaxing. Wish I were a little leaner and taut – *sigh*
