"If music be the food of love…"

Monday, February 28th, 2005 | Author: James

This is a line from a movie I watched last night, called “Food of Love.”  Starring Kevin Bishop, Juliet Stevenson, Paul Rhys and Allan Corduner, it deals with a young man (Kevin Bishop) dealing with growing up and exploring his sexuality.  It's based on David Leavitt's (Language of the Lost Cranes) book “The Page Turner.”  I enjoyed it.  The lead guy in it (Paul, played by Kevin Bishop) was extremely cute, so that certainly helped.  I thought a couple of scenes with him in it were a little odd (mainly with his relationship with his mother), but I put it down to his being a wanna-be piano diva.  The ending was a little awkward, as it left a few questions unanswered.  Perhaps there was a thought to do a second part, but I'm thinking I'll read the book to see how that goes.

Sunday Night with the Drunks

Monday, February 28th, 2005 | Author: James

I have just finished cleaning the kitchen - or the dishes that were piled high in the kitchen. Normally this would be a bad thing, but I was working off all the calories that I put on while creating the dirty dishes along with some of our friends.

Brian decided that we needed to have a dinner party where he cooked.  Needless to say, I didn't anticipate that the cooking would begin yesterday, would extend into the early hours of this morning, and then continue throughout the day.  Am I complaining? After what I ate? No Way!  It was amazing.

Our guest list included Paul, Bobby, Ian, Todd and Kean, and the three of us made eight.  Ian has a done a nice summary over on his blog of what we ate (and what I will be continuing to eat for the next day or so).  The title of this post may be a little deceiving, as you may believe that I consumed beverages that put me in an inebriated state … again.  This would not be correct, as I have my standards (as low as they may be from time to time).  The tiramisu was potent (good, but strong).  Up until dessert I thought everyone was just doing fine, and then our guests attempted to walk.

It was an amazing dinner, and one that I shall remember for a lifetime (or in blog years, the next week or so).

The Search for Love in Manhattan

Monday, February 28th, 2005 | Author: James

For the sake of some friends that I was chatting to today about this blog (”The Search for Love in Manhattan”), rather than email the link, I thought I would post it here (I think this means trackback works, or something).  The following link should take you the first entry made on November 17, 2003.  Read forward (which means scrolling up).  I found this to be one of the most wonderful posts I've read in a long time (which in blog years is about two days).  Never-the-less, it is

"Lord of the Hissy Fit"

Courtesy of towleroad, here are some of the funniest book titles made up from those romance novels that so many people read. Dame Barbara C. would not be amused.

tonight I went to Damir's birthday party (with Chris). His friend Keith hosted it - nice apartment. Cute boyz there, and some old (as in people I know from previous meetings) faces were there. It was nice to just catch up and watch the evening unfold. I've rediscovered my love for Butterscoth Schappps - dear, sweet succelent butterscotch. It warms the heart on chilly nights.

Even slightly intoximicated, it was interesting to watch the dynamics :-)
