Sunday is Over

Monday, September 27th, 2004 | Author: James

Well today, I tried to study.  It was not difficult to find reasons not too.  Watching news about Hurricane Jeanne is one example of how to avoid study.  Of course, my heart goes out to the peoples who are having their lives blown away, but it is keeping me away from my studies.

After reviewing how I should start my comparative religion essay, we decided we were going to head out to see Shaun of the Dead.  A funny, horror flick.  It's a take off some movie from the past that I never watched, and probably never will.  If you don't want to know the end, then don't read this … they get rescued.

Headed down to Paul's for dinner tonight.  He has recently broken up with his bf, so he was not terribly happy - though happy that we were there.  We watched Formula 51 with Samuel L. Jackson.  Another good film

I am exhausted, and yet I can't say that I was completely energetic this weekend. I think with all the stuff that we do during the week, it just catches up on us all.  I am looking forward to this week, as I'm heading to Tempe, AZ with Chris for the Out and Equal Workplace Summit.  Shoudl be a lot of fun!

This after I've handed in two essays and completed a spanish exam.  *sigh*

I got my hair cut!

Sunday, September 26th, 2004 | Author: James

Yes, you read right.  I got my hair cut!  The painful part was that the person who cut my hair took SO long!  I mean it's like she handled every single hair that was on my head, made sure it was feeling okay before she snipped, and then apologized for cutting.  It seemed to take forever.  The end result - it's manageable, and I don't look like witchie-poo when I wake up.

Tonight I've just spent time looking around at sites, especially online profile sites.  There are some cute looking people out there, spilling their heart out to anyone and everyone … oh wait….

Needless to say there is an element of online profiles that suggest that posting an ad means you want to hook up … as in right NOW.  Of course, this is not only impossible, but very impractical as well.

I did help out Damir today.  He needed a ride to collect his friend's truck, after buying a new car this week.  Re: car - very nice burgundy color.  Re: friend - apparantly (and I'm not one to talk), he was hung and thick.

I think tomorrow that I suggest that we get out of the house and watch a movie.

I appreciate art dammit!

Thursday, September 23rd, 2004 | Author: James

Today I had an art appreciation exam.  It was okay.

Also today, I had to make a presentation on a spanish artist for my spanish class.  I chose Frida Kahlo, mainly as she was dynamic in her art (contains a lot of expression on her pain that she suffered through her life) and because she was a woman who liked sex with other women.  Very interesting lady.

I'm sure my day was filled with so much more, however… I'm not looking at repeating it right now.

Empty Houses

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004 | Author: James

Well Andy left today.  The house is going to be empty without him.  It's kind of fun to just chat with him, and get his view on things, in his Alabama way of thinking.  I hope it is not as long between visits. Chris keeps suggesting we drive down that way one day, and I think we may have to do that over one of the holidays, or next spring break.

Anyway, besides Andy leaving, it was a fairly busy day for me.  Had to head over the the Spring Creek Campus for a meeting with teh SGA after I dropped Andy at the airport.  Stayed there for a few hours, and then headed back home.  I've been so tired lately, and I've just been collapsing for a mini-lay down most afternoons. I think it is the weather or the air (read, pollution/crap).  I've had this neck ache for almost two weeks now… so I”m starting to get a little worried.  I need to find a good masseur who is good with his hands on my neck and back.

I've got to get my hair cut one day soon.  This mop is getting incredibly blah!

Do Hindus Die?

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004 | Author: James

Well in comparative relgion tonight we discussed the death of Hindus.  It was quite eye opening, especially the discussions surround the whole issue of religion.  I'm certain many of my fellow classmates do not check their biases at the door, as some of the question they ask are really … well … inappropriate (though it is a class where there are no inappropriate questions).

Anyway, we were discussing the death of Hindus, and their belief that they will continue to be “recycled” until they reach Moksha, which is the same as being removed from the cycle.  I tend to think of this as being obliterated, however our professor reminds us that no “soul” is connected to an individual, so it's not quite as easy to suggest obliteration.

We got our essay questions for this class tonight … sigh.  I guess I'll drag my heels in writing this.
