I found out about this two hours ago and immediately contacted the person that sent this out. I asked him to recall the message in hopes it reaches some before it is opened. I will work with that person to determine which messages got through.
I will send messages to those that opened it and clarify my position on this.
My goal is to focus on issues and how I can make Frisco better, not on personal issues.

David,
You and I don’t really know each other very well yet. It’s been pleasant the few times we have had a chance to chat recently, and I certainly hope that continues. I also hope that, regardless of which of us ends up sitting in Place 4 after the election, that we continue to have a friendly dialogue and that we will work with each other on items that are important to the citizens of Frisco.
A friend forwarded the attached e-mail to me, which I find to be a bit disturbing and it certainly misrepresents me and who I am. I have been active in Frisco city and community activities for many years, and I have never made an effort to hide any part of who I am. James and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary on Monday, and we have both been active here in Frisco for most of that time. In fact, James served as president of our HOA (Plantation Springs) for two consecutive years. Our community is well aware that we are a same-gender couple, and this was something they knew even the first time he was elected to the Board. Past and current council members know us a couple, as do many other people.
For the most part, every person we’ve come into contact with in Frisco has treated us with respect and dignity. Sure, there have been a handful of people who may have reacted a bit like the author of the below message, but once they get to know us, they understand that we truly care about the entire community and that our concerns and efforts are genuine.
One step I could have taken in advance of this campaign could have been to modify the photos and themes that are on my own websites, and could have asked James and other friends of ours to “tone down” their websites or picture galleries a bit. But, I don’t think that would be the right thing to do. I think that would be hiding my true identity from the citizens, and I’ve never done that before. If some people find what is on other people’s websites offensive, then so be it. However, I don’t think it’s appropriate campaign fodder for Frisco and, in light of what I’ve mentioned above, it misrepresents who I am and what I stand for. You also strike me as a man who is above that sort of thing.
While I realize that sometimes campaign volunteers are overzealous in their efforts to lend a hand to people that they believe in, I think the appropriate thing for you to do as the candidate would be to send an e-mail to those same folks denouncing the message. I hope you’ll do that.

A long time friend of mine is running for Frisco City Council Position 4 in the upcoming election. I am sending out this email to ask for your support. We need to make sure David Prince, CPA is our next City Council Position 4 representative. David www.princeforcitycouncil.com is one of the good guys. He is a person who holds the values of a traditional conservative fiscal and supports the traditional family values we hold so dear. We need people like David to help lead the Frisco community, and look out for our family interest. We must make sure we get out and vote, and if you can, contribute with financial support. David’s campaign has immediate needs to purchase signage and other materials to help win this election. This is expected to be a low turn out election, as there are no major elections occurring, but this election can be pivotal in deciding the direction this community moves toward in the future. His opponent, Chris Moss, seen below with his “Partner”, is far from traditional. He actively supports “Same Sex Marriage”. As you all know there has been an assault by the Gay community to undermine our traditional family values. Chris Moss has garnered a great deal of support from the gay community in Frisco, and they are mobilizing to get out the vote. Chris Moss will have the finances to be able to win this election if we do not help David.
The Frisco Community has been under great leadership from folks who value traditional family structure and have governed according to those values. We need to insure those same values continue to be supported by our elected officials. The Gay lifestyle does not need to be part of the leadership of Frisco. We are in control of making sure that does not happen. Let’s mobilize to make sure David Prince our next City Council Position 4 representative.
